Stamford Ranked #7 in List of Top 10 Small U.S. Cities of the Future

Stamford, CONN. – The City of Stamford was ranked #7 in FDi Intelligence’s 2021/2022 report of the Top 10 Small U.S. Cities of the Future overall.

“Each year Stamford has continued to expand and set the bar for economic growth, public safety, and diversity,” said Mayor David Martin. “I am very pleased, although not surprised, with our city’s ranking as number seven in FDi’s annual report of Top 10 Small Cities of the Future, and it further solidifies the fact that Stamford is the most successful city in Connecticut and one of the most successful in the nation.”

Stamford was one of more than 200 cities with populations between 100,000 and 350,000 analyzed for the report, which utilized five main categories in determining ranking: Economic Potential, Business Friendliness, Human Capital and lifestyle, Cost Effectiveness, and Connectivity.

Much of Stamford’s success has been attributed to the City’s strong leadership, business-friendly environment, financial strength, and overall public safety. In the past year, Stamford has once again reaffirmed it’s AAA bond rating, and was recognized as the safest City in New England in accordance with the FBI’s annual crime statistics report.

In FDi’s report, Stamford ranked #7 in the category of Human Capital and Lifestyle and #1 in the category of Connectivity.

“I am particularly proud that Stamford ranked #1 in regard to connectivity,” said Director of Economic Development Thomas Madden. “Our city’s administration has worked hard to evolve our business ecosystem into a place where major businesses will want to relocate and thrive.”

In the past year, several businesses have elected to relocate to Stamford, including leading global manufacturer ITT Inc, Tomo Networks, Digital Currency Group, Webster Bank, and GE Appliances.
