1. Shitts Creek (2013) is one of those amazing shows that if it wasn’t being streamed on Netflix you’d unfortunately probably never hear of it. The Canadian sitcom follows a formerly wealthy family who loses it all and is forced to move to a rural town tentatively titled Schitts Creek. The riches to rags story is as hilarious as it is thought provoking and it’s stellar cast has won a plethora of awards both in Canada and the United States.
2. The Grinch (2018)
Before you know it Halloween will be behind us and we’ll be entering the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas season. Rather than bingeing on dime a dozen Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, Netflix is streaming a new spin on an old Classic. The animated adventure is both kid and adult friendly, and the perfect film to get you ready to deck the halls.

If you’re hand is still raised, then Black Panther is the movie for you. The marvel flick redefines it’s genre and has the ability to attract audiences outside of the tradition comic book aficionado.
4. I’m Sorry (2017)
I’m sorry is yet another prime example of a series which has risen in popularity due to its debut on Netflix. The semi biographical Tru TV series written, produced, and starring Andrea Savage as a wife and mother with a wicked sense of humor. The two seasons available feature ten 20 minute long episodes perfect for binge watching on a lazy weekend.
5. Ant Man and the Wasp (2018)
The sequel to the wildly popular 2015 Marvel film Ant Man is yet another example of a non-tradition superhero film. Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang, an average joe turned superhero will the help of his action suit which allows him to shrink in size. Both films are as comedy packed as they are action packed and perfect for a quiet night in. Also for any ladies out there who are constantly forced to watch action flicks by their significant other, here’s one you’ll actually enjoy!
6. When They See Us (2019)
Unfortunately in today’s society social and political injustices appear to be more and more common. However, few stick out more or are more devastating than the true story behind the quintet labeled by the media as the “Central Park Five”. Singled out by the color of their skin and aggressively pursued by a corrupt legal system, five young men had their lives changed forever after being wrongfully convicted for the rape and assault of a young woman in New York City in 1989. The four episode series offers a harrowing look at the plight of the wrongfully accused, and is almost impossible to turn the walk away from even long after you’ve turned it off.
